After School PTA Enrichment Programs

  • BTES PTA logo The Winter 2019 PTA-sponsored After School Programs are HERE! The following programs are a wonderful opportunity to provide your child with fun activities that are both creative and challenging! They enrich the school’s curriculum by offering a range of creative and educational after school classes from 2:45 – 3:45. A percentage of your child’s registration fee is donated directly to your PTA. Please take a moment to read each class description, click on the registration link offered under each description and register!
     
    Please note:
    • Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis
    • All classes have a minimum enrollment and may be cancelled if the required minimum is not met
    • All registrations will be taken online through the program
    • No registrations will be accepted in person at BTES, via online to any BTES staff or PTA email
    • No Cash or Checks will be accepted by the PTA or BTES

    Cheerleading

    Message In Motion: Cheerleading

     

    Ready? Set?! Cheer! Do you want to learn the cheers you hear at games? Do you love showing school spirit? Then this is the class for you! Cheer your school on to V-I-C-T-O-R-Y while learning all the basics of this sport including motions, jumps, chants and cheers. Build on strength, flexibility, balance, and overall athleticism while doing fun activities that build self esteem, leadership, and teamwork. Class will present what they’ve learned in an end of class parent showcase. *Optional uniform in school colors available for purchase.

    Engineering using Little Bits

    C3 Cyber Club: Engineering using Little Bits

     

    In this class, younger students are introduced to basic electronics including input and output, and logics gates, through hands-on learning and projects. Kids combine everyday supplies and color-coded modules that utilize LED lights, fans, sliders, pressure sensors, and more! Students work together in small teams in order create different projects such as custom flashlights, touch sensors, alarm clocks, and more!     Hip Hop Dance

    Message in Motion: Hip Hop Dance

     

    In this high energy class, students learn hip hop basics including break dancing, tutting, freezes and isolations, as well as iconic hip hop movements including the moon walk, the cabbage patch, the snake, and more! Emphasis on style, contemporary choreography, movement vocabulary, basic strengthening and conditioning, rhythm, personal expression, and having fun! Students collaborate and learn funky routines, and let their inner star shine through break dance battles and more. Class will present what they’ve learned in a parent showcase on the last day of the session.

    This Karate program offers safe, structured training that teaches students the proper form, style and technique. Classes are tailored to student’s individual needs and help them to grow to their fullest potential.     Minecraft Adventure Maps

    Little Einstein Explorers: Minecraft Adventure Maps

     

    Is a video game really just a video game? Or can it be used as an engaging STEM tool? This class uses the extremely popular game of Minecraft to teach students various STEM skills such as engineering, architecture, and logical thinking. Have you ever wondered what goes into making a Minecraft adventure map?  Learn the skills necessary to make your very own adventure.  Creating a playable map allows the student to develop their own story within Minecraft using skills already known and ones acquired in the class students will be exposed to storyline structure, texture pack design, and testing their worlds in a fun environment!

    Abrakadoodle: Kids on Canvas Painting 

     

    The Abrakadoodle art experience engages children with art lessons that will inspire their imagination. Our program is intended to be an art enrichment class where your child will be introduced and learn about master artists and art styles. Grab a paintbrush and jump right in for a colorful Kids-On-Canvas adventure! Use tempera and acrylic paint to explore painting a variety of subjects with an Abrakadoodle twist! We use our imaginations and inspiration from a different artist, or art style each week to create unique artwork in a variety of ways!     Abrakadoodle: Sculpt It

     

    The Abrakadoodle art experience engages children with art lessons that will inspire their imagination. Our program is intended to be an art enrichment class where your child will be introduced and learn about master artists and art styles. In our Sculpt It class children will learn to create 2D and 3D artwork by using a variety of materials which may include modeling compounds, wire, wood, aluminum, plastic, string and paper. We'll mold, bend, twist, stretch, and balance all while learning about amazing artists and making creations that are dynamic, creative and fun.

    Tea with Me Etiquette and Manners

    Message In Motion: Tea with Me Etiquette and Manners

     

    Going beyond “please” and “thank you”, our etiquette, manners, and social grace class will help teach your child to feel confident in any social situation. We will learn and put into practice table manners and how to set a table, etiquette for proper introductions and making a good first impression, conversational etiquette with elders and peers alike, telephone manners, and manners outside the home including sportsmanship, courtesy at public places, dealing with bullies, and more! Class utilizes fun props, hands on activities and crafts, and role playing! At the core of this class is the understanding that the root of good manners is the development of interpersonal skills including kindness, humility, and empathy- paying attention to what others need and may be feeling. Class will culminate with an afternoon party put on by the class for the parents where children can put into practice all they’ve learned.

    Terrific Team Building

    Game Point Athletics: Ultimate PE Games

     

    There is no I in TEAM! Together we achieve more! These old-sayings ring as true today as they did back when they were first coined. In this session, kids will go through various team-building activities that will require all participants to rely on each other, communicate, and work effectively in a group. Did I mention it’s super FUN!? Kids will also thoroughly enjoy physical activities designed for limited-space, and activities that work on balance, hand-eye coordination, and reflex speed. Kids will be safe, have fun, and have meaningful experiences all at the same time!

    Drama Kids: Theater

     

    Classes are designed to teach acting skills, build confidence, bolster public speaking skills and encourage teamwork. The kids will work on projection, articulation, characterization and perform skits in every class.

    Virtual Reality game design

    C3 Cyber Club: Virtual Reality game design

     

    Virtual Reality is a rapidly growing technology. In this class, students will learn how to create their very own 3D environments and design a VR game using Unity and the Samsung Gear VR. Children will utilize various concepts, such as scenes, assets, triggers, and scripting, in order to create a functioning game.
