Mrs. Andrus

Welcome to 3rd grade! I am so excited for this year and all of the adventures and creative learning experiences it will bring. I’d like to start by introducing myself to you. My name is Elizabeth Andrus. I was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. I live in Lovettsville with my husband, Steven, and my son, Cardiel.
I attended West Virginia University on a full-ride scholarship for cheerleading and graduated with my Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in PreK-K. Since then, I have also earned a second Master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development from Capella University.
I began teaching in New Orleans in which I taught 5th, 6th, and 7th grade English and Language Arts. Shortly after that I was offered a position in SE, Washington D.C, to teach as the lead kindergarten teacher. Seeing as this was an opportunity that I could not turn down, I quickly packed up my belongings and moved to D.C. I taught there for the second half of the school year and then the following year as well until I decided to move back to Prince William County where I was raised. I taught in Prince William County in a 2nd grade classroom and then finished the year off teaching as the school's Gifted Resource Teacher. I had such a wonderful time teaching in multiple states and cities while experiencing different cultures and ways of teaching. However, I have found my home at Dominion Trail Elementary. This is my sixth year at DTES. My first two years were as a kindergarten teacher and this is now my fourth year teaching third grade!
It is my goal to make sure that this year brings immense progress for your child in creative and critical thinking skills, social and emotional skills, and all Virginia Standard Objectives. I appreciate you giving me this amazing opportunity to help your child progress and grow throughout this year, not only academically, but as a valuable asset to our community as well. I hope that we can collaborate on any ideas that we have and maintain strong communication throughout the year. I hope that I have your support and understanding in everything that we do. I look forward to working with you and your children. I promise to dedicate my time and heart to each and every one of them unconditionally.
Feel feel to reach out with any questions or comments you may have.
