Mrs. Betsy Porada

The 2018-2019 school year is Mrs. Porada's second year at Sterling Middle School. She teaches Math 6.  Mrs. Porada loves to learn, and is delighted to share her passion for education and math with her students. Mrs. Porada taught all levels of middle school math in Maine. Before joining Sterling Middle School, she taught fourth grade for two years at an LCPS elementary school. She loves middle school working with middle school students, and looks forward to helping her sixth grade students learn and grow this school year.

Mrs. Porada graduated from Colby College with a degree in Spanish and International Studies. She also earned a Masters degree in Accountancy at the The George Washington University. After two years in public accounting, Mrs. Porada decided to return to school again. Given her love of learning, the logical decision was to pursue a career that allowed her to stay in school forever.  She earned her Masters degree in Education from the University of Southern Maine, and has never regretted her decision to become a teacher.

Mrs. Porada has a wonderful husband and two beautiful children. Her daughter is entering seventh grade and her son is entering fifth grade at other LCPS schools. She also has a sweet new dog named Piper. With her family, she enjoys heading into Washington, D.C. to visit the museums and to see the Nationals play. She also loves to bake and spend time with friends and family.
