Welcome to Mrs. Winn’s Class!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

            I’m thrilled to be working with your child. Second grade is such an exciting time, and this year will be no exception. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which many new skills are acquired. During second grade, we have an exciting curriculum: including studies of habitats, animal and plant life cycles, weather, Native Americans, geometry, fractions, time, money and digging deep with our comprehension. I hope to make your child's learning experience a fun and exciting one, and instill a love of learning that will last throughout a lifetime.

           I joined the staff of Sycolin Creek as a Charter Member in 2007. I have worked in Pre-School, Kindergarten, First and Second grades. This will be my 21st year working with children! For the last two years, as we fully transitioned back into the classroom, we took some extra time to address the emotional and academic needs of our students. I am really looking forward to continuing that growth this year.

     There will be an Open House for students to meet their teachers on Tuesday, August 22nd, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. There will also be a parents-only Back-to-School Night on that same evening (Tuesday, August 22nd ) with two sessions between 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. You are welcome to bring student supplies to either of these events, and if you have pre-ordered a School Supply Kit, it will have already been delivered to the classroom.
