BA in English and Secondary Education MS in Library Science and Media

Mrs. Alexis Groah

I am so excited to begin my 8th year at Rock Ridge High School.  It's hard to believe the school has been open that long already! I attended Shenandoah University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Secondary Education minor. I  later went on to earn a Master's Degree in Library Science from Clarion University in Pennsylvania. This is 23rd year as an educator and my 13th year as a librarian!

My passions outside of school include reading, crocheting, real estate, and all things soccer. My favorite book is The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah, but this changes regularly. My other loves are watching movies, visiting my daughter Mackenzie in Orlando and theme-parking, and watching my favorite goalkeeper, my daughter Meghan, play.  I hope to inspire every student to become a lifelong reader, with a passion for pursuing knowledge and education. Please come in or email and ask for personal book recommendations anytime!

BFA in Fine Arts MS in Library Information Science Post-Masters Cert. in Educational Leadership & Administration

Ms. Lisa McGuinness

I am so excited to be a part of the Rock Ridge team. As the Library Media Specialist, I look forward to providing a dynamic learning environment for students and staff to support the school's learning culture. Reach out to me in the library, I am here to help you with your studies, projects, book selection, research, reference citation, etc.

"School librarians play a critical role in building a school's collective capacity as they partner with other educators to enrich curriculum and design authentic learning experiences to promote creativity, harness curiosity, inspire exploration, and deepen understanding." (AASL, American Association of School Librarians, 2018)

In addition to my master’s degree in Library Information Science from Catholic University of America and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from George Mason University, I have my certification in Educational Leadership & Administration from The George Washington University. Reading is where it starts! I intend to share my creative and communicative experiences, from my previous career in advertising, and teach relevant 21st century literacy skills so students may successfully receive, transform and synthesize information, with apt evaluation skills.
