What is WatchDOGS?
In 2013, Pinebrook PTA launched its WatchDOGS program with great success. WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) is an educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering that has two primary goals - to provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
- Students gain positive male role models.
Who are WatchDOGS?
- Fathers learn about the complex challenges facing today's youth.
- Fathers gain awareness of the positive impact they can have on a student's academic performance, self-esteem and social behavior.
- Schools get an enhanced sense of security at their buildings, creating an environment conducive to learning.
WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other father-figures who volunteer at Pinebrook for the WatchDOGS program at least once during the school year. While at school you might help children arrive at school, monitor hallways and lunches, assist teachers in the classrooms and/or other activities needed by the administration. You will actively engage with not only your own children, but other students as well.Need to order a WatchDOGS T-Shirt?Go to the national WatchDOGS website, and login to the DOGSTORE to place your order.
