Just Right BooksDear Parents,Reading outside of school is so important and selecting the right books to read is essential to becoming a better reader. To assist you in helping your child select the “just right” book, I have gathered the resources below. Please remember that reading each night is important for your child to become more proficient reader. If your child has a “just right” book, he or she can utilize the reading strategies we are learning in class. If your child selects books that are too easy or too hard, he/she is not able to practice the strategies we are working on at school. It is important to read to your child. While all the students are reading, reading books that are above their reading level provides opportunity to develop vocabulary, introduce varied sentences structure, to model fluency and expression, and to share the joy of reading with your child. Please remember that as you proceed to these websites, the content of outside links is not controlled by Loudoun County Public Schools. While school staff reviews links when they are inserted, the content may change. If you find any linked home page content you consider inappropriate, please bring the matter to the attention of the teacher or building principal. Remember that the outside source Web page may link to other pages that have not been reviewed; explore at your own risk. Sincerely, Rhonda Allen The Scholastic link below will allow you to search for books you have a t home.Simply type in the title you want to find and if Scholastic has that book, it will tell you the level. You can also search for a list of leveled books by typing in DRA and then the level. A list of the books they sell will appear. I am not encouraging you to buy the books, but I have found it helpful when I am looking for leveled book titles.
