What is WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students)?

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering.

What are the goals of a WATCH D.O.G.S. program?

    1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is IMPORTANT.
    2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

    Who are WATCH D.O.G.S.?

WATCH D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for one day (or more) each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school.

What do WATCH D.O.G.S. do (while they are at school)?

    WatchDogs
After a brief orientation in the morning, WATCH D.O.G.S. may help in classrooms (including specials like P.E., Art, Music and ELL), play at recess, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned duties where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.

Will volunteers really spend a full day at school?

Yes! WATCH D.O.G.S. runs from 7:25 AM until 2:45 PM the day of your volunteer slot.  You may sign up for one day or as many days as your schedule will allow.  After their first experience as a WATCH D.O.G.S. dad, we tend to have A LOT of return volunteers!!
