TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID
Grants & scholarships are awards which do not have to be repaid. Grants are usually based on need alone, while scholarships are often based on financial need, academic achievement, particular talents or skills, or a combination of one or more of these factors.
Educational loans are financial aid funds that must be paid back, usually with interest. These loans generally have low interest rates than commercial loand. Most loans must be repaid after students graduate or leave school.
Student employment, or work study, is a form of self-help assistance. Colleges assist students in finding jobs based on what is available and the interests and skills of the student. Jobs are usually on campus but may be with a non-profit or state agency off campus.
