Mrs. Gwendolyn Hawkins
Mrs. Gwendolyn Hawkins has earned a Master’s in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and has a B.S. degree in Education from Skidmore College. Overall, she has taught over 29 years in the Primary and Early Education field. She taught 19 years in Loudoun County Public Schools (First and Second grades) and two years as a First grade teacher at Merit Private Christian Academy in Fairfax. Mrs. Hawkins worked with three year old preschool children at the Seven Corner’s Children Center and Four year olds at Open Arms Christian Children’s Development Center. Four years, Mrs. Hawkins taught three year old children at County Christian School. Mrs. Gwendolyn Hawkins had the honor of opening Cardinal Ridge and this will be her 6th year teaching second graders. She has a husband, Rick, who is an IT consultant and a son, Carter, who is thirteen years old and attends Middle School at the Loudoun County Public Schools. Teaching for Mrs. Hawkins is her calling in life and she is thrilled to be working with the children that she loves so much.
It is a privilege to be a teacher at Cardinal Ridge Elementary School and an honor to teach Second grade. Mrs. Hawkins is excited to come to school every day and work beside the students and guide them as they learn in a safe and caring academic environment that supports teamwork, creativity, problem solving and freedom to take risks in order to be a successful learner. She shares her passion for learning with her classroom and helps children achieve their academic goals. You can see the energy and enthusiasm she brings to the classroom. Mrs. Hawkins has a wonderful way of making learning fun and the unique ability to adapt the subject matter to any child’s development level. The children are able to reach their full potential through a variety of learning materials. Mrs. Hawkins is thrilled to begin another fantastic year with many exciting units of study and special activities planned. She is truly happy to work closely with the children and their families. She believes that the home and school connection is important for students growth and development. Many parents and Mrs. Hawkins have developed great bonds of friendship throughout the years. Mrs. Hawkins is grateful to have the chance to work beside your children and watch them grow academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the year.
