WELCOME to the Cardinal Ridge Art Studios!
Elementary student’s grades 1 through 5 in Loudoun County Public Schools attend art once a week for 60 minutes throughout the school year. Full time Kindergarten will attend art once a week for 30 minutes
Through a variety of art activities and experiences in our studios our goal is for the students to discover, explore, analyze, discuss and reflect the personal, historic, and cultural importance of art. Through art, children will learn to value their own uniqueness and to appreciate the individuality of others.
We have two (YES! 2!!) rooms that will be used to explore & create the wonderful world of Visual Arts! Both rooms are located on the second floor. Our growing artists will explore a full range of creative possibilities. They will learn to express themselves with a wide range of artist materials and specialized equipment that will provide them the best art experience. They will develop personal initiative, self-discipline, critical thinking skills, and creative problem solving skills within the realms of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and much more.
Art students will demonstrate an understanding of the principles and elements of design, color theory, technical skills, critical/creative skills, historic and cultural comparisons, and the vocabulary pertaining to each area.
Art helps a child develop cognitively, socially, physically, and emotionally. It enables children to express their inner feelings and reach out to others. Art connects visual and verbal learning and enhances education as a whole.
All lessons are planned according to the county, state, and national curriculums. Classes are educational and fun for all types of learners!
