I am excited to be working with cooperating teachers in 4th and 5th grade to best meet the needs of your gifted learners. I will push in to their Math and Language Arts classes to help differentiate their learning. Planning with their classroom teachers will enable me to differentiate their instruction process, content or end product. This will allow for their learning to stay relevant yet challenging while addressing the unique needs of the gifted learner more than once a week.
Twice a week for one hour each, I will meet with the FUSION (formerly FUTURA) students to engage in thematic curriculum with their gifted peers. This will address their social and emotional needs as gifted learners, and extend the curriculum. We will focus on the 5 Cs - Collaboration, Critical thinking and problem solving, Creativity and innovation, Communication and making Connections.
The goals of the FUSION program are:
To become divergent, creative thinkers who recognize problems and solve them.
To construct personal meaning and understanding of others and the world around them.
To develop the capacity for self-assessment and take ownership of learning.
