Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Carrie Getchell

I'm excited to begin my first year at Countryside Elementary School after 7 wonderful years teaching 1st, K and 3rd at Cardinal Ridge! I began my teaching career 20 years ago as an elementary school teacher in California. I eventually relocated to Fairfax County Public Schools and have also spent time teaching at the preschool level. I'm happy to have found my home in Loudoun County Public Schools.
I earned my Teaching Credential from Concordia University in Irvine, California and my Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Radford University. I'm a military brat (go Air Force!) and spent my childhood traveling around the United States and Europe. This was an education in itself and time lived in Germany encouraged me to also pursue a Minor in German.
When I'm not spending time with my students and colleagues at school, I enjoy running and walking my dog around the lovely pond in my neighborhood. I am passionate about all creatures great and small! I have a dog named Vivienne and two kitties named Joy and Grace. I grew up around horses and visit my parent's farm as often as possible to spend time with them and do some riding. My goal as an educator is to help your child reach their highest level of potential by providing opportunities to learn in ways that make sense to them. I strive to create a classroom community where all learners, regardless of their ability,  feel respected, capable and successful. I'm looking so forward to returning to in-person learning 5 days a week in the fall and can't wait to meet your children!
