Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Lorraine Stewart

Welcome to 6th grade math!  I hold a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas and a Master's degree in Special Education from George Mason University.  I have been teaching in Loudoun County for 19 years and have taught students in preschool, elementary, middle and high school settings. I have worked with all grade levels, but especially enjoy middle school students and curriculum.  This is my 6th year teaching math at River Bend.  At home I stay busy building Lego creations with my twelve year old son and my ten year old twins.

Classroom Expectations:
To be successful in my class, students should come to class prepared.  This means practice problems assigned the previous block should be completed to the best of their ability.  In addition, students should arrive to class with at least a pencil, and their laptop charged.  We will be using devices in class every day.
Please check Google Classroom when you are absent.  Daily classwork, notes, and homework will be posted here.  Periodically check ParentVUE or StudentVue to see up-to-date grades in all classes as well as upcoming assignments and tests.
Students should seek extra help at the first sign of trouble.  There are many options for time to meet with students when needed (mornings, lunch, resource...)  Please contact me or have your child talk with me to set up time when needed.
Grading Information:
Grades are determined based on student performance on summative assignments (tests and projects) as well as lesson completion in Dreambox.  Student progress will also be monitored via homework completion, in class formative assignments and group work.
