I am thrilled to begin my 26th year as a teacher! My experience includes teaching grades 3, 4, and 5 in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties, and also serving as a teacher and Differentiation Specialist for Wilmette District #39, in Illinois. I hold a Bachelor's degree in History from George Mason University and a Master's degree in Education, K-8, from Marymount University. Additionally, I have all of the required credits for a GT endorsement in Virginia. I completed the Smithsonian iWonder course from which I learned how to incorporate the scientific inquiry method into my daily instruction. I have extensive training in differentiation and project-based learning. Parents and students will find me continually adding to my skill set and sharing my passion for learning in the classroom, as I am a lifelong learner.
My husband, 7 year old son, Drake, and I recently moved from downtown Leesburg to a small farm in Purcellville. Our family, which also includes three Shetland Sheepdogs (Patty, Daisy, and Darby), enjoys spending our free time traveling, reading, listening to music and being outdoors.
Fourth grade is an exciting year of growth and learning for children. I will strive to provide your student with a solid academic foundation as he/she prepares for the leap to fifth grade. My expectations will be high, and I will challenge students to exceed standards; however, my approach will be a differentiated one that meets the needs of the individual child in a positive, caring learning environment. I am looking forward to guiding students on this important journey as we study the solar system, great literature, all about our state, and more.
I can't wait to start working with all of you Moorefield Station Sharks. We're going to have a fantastic 2020-21 together!
