Jonathan Krister Tracey


    Mr. Tracey joined Cedar Lane Elementary School as the Assistant Principal on March 1, 2014 and is excited to be welcoming students back to school for the start of the 2022-2023 school year.  This will be Mr. Tracey’s 18 year with Loudoun County Public Schools and his twenty-eigth year as an educator. He looks forward to working with the amazing Cedar Lane administration team, teachers and staff, and the supportive Cedar Lane families in creating outstanding educational experiences for all of the Cedar Lane students.


    Mr. Tracey received his undergraduate degree in Studio Art from Bemidji State University.  He went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree in the Theory and Practice of Art from the University of Chicago.  After working as a professional artist for several years, he pursued graduate studies in art education at Towson University.  In 2013, Mr. Tracey received his Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the American College of Education.


    Mr. Tracey began his teaching career through the Artist-in-the Schools program in Alaska.  After receiving his teaching license, he taught in Frederick County, MD and Jefferson County, WV before becoming a teacher at Evergreen Mill ES in Leesburg.  Before coming to Cedar Lane, Mr. Tracey was afforded the opportunity to teach at a diversity of LCPS schools including Evergreen Mill ES, Hamilton ES, Banneker ES, Middleburg ES and Rosa Lee Carter ES.


    As he begins his ninth year as a member of the Cedar Lane community, Mr. Tracey will work to nurture and support the school’s rich and inclusive culture of excellence, and he will work closely with Mr. Marple, Ms. Pisani, and the teachers to develop new and creative educational practices that focus on fulfilling our mission to help all students  realize their greatest potential and to grow as engaged citizens of the 21st Century world.
