     Loudoun County Regional Math Tournament
     
     
     
     
     
     
    The Loudoun County Math Tournament increases interest in mathematics and promotes an atmosphere for students to showcase their talents while networking with others interested in the exciting world of mathematics.
     
    4th and 5th Grade Tournament
     
    Date: Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 9:00am – 1:30pm
     
    Locations: There are two locations to choose from:
    1. Dominion Trail Elementary School 44045 Bruceton Mills Cir., Ashburn, VA 20147
    2. River Bend Middle School 46240 Algonkian Parkway, Sterling, VA 20165
     
    Who May Enter: Students enrolled in area 4th and 5th grades elementary schools or homeschooled are eligible to participate in the Tournament. Teams will include 5 students and a coach. You may register prior to
    identifying all 5 team members. Please note the registration fee is nonrefundable even if a 5 member team could not be formed.
     
    6th 7th and 8th Grade Tournament
     
    Date: Saturday April 6, 2019 from 9:00am - 1:30pm
     
    Location: Farmwell Station Middle School 44281 Gloucester Parkway, Ashburn, VA 20147
     
    Who May Enter: Students enrolled in area 6th, 7th and 8th-grade elementary schools or homeschooled are eligible to participate in the Tournament. Teams will include 5 students and a coach. You may register prior to identifying all 5 team members. Please note the registration fee is nonrefundable even if a 5 member team could not be formed.
     
    Tournament Program:
     
    All Tournaments include three rounds and an awards ceremony.
     
    Individual Round: Each student works alone on 10 timed short-answer problems.
     
     
    Team Round: All five team members work cooperatively on another 10 timed short-answer problems.
     
     
    Playoff Round: Up to five additional problems with time constraints to break ties for awards. All problems and solutions are reviewed with the participants during the Tournament to facilitate learning. Awards will be given to top individuals and teams.
     
     
    Example problems:
     
     
    1. Amy has four more quarters than dimes. The total value of all her quarters and dimes is $5.20. How many dimes does Amy have?
     
     
    2.  The last Friday of a particular month is on the 25th day of the month. What day of the week is the first day of the month?
     
    Price:
     
    Team Registration - each team must have a coach.
     
    Early Registration: $150 per team if registering by December 7th
    Registration: $170 per team if registered by March 1st
    Late Registration: $180 per team if registered by March 29th.
