Mrs. Noyd's Nest
"Our Nest is Best"
2019-20 School Year
Hello! Welcome to Mrs. Noyd's Nest!
I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Special Education. This is my fifth year at Cool Spring and my eighth in LCPS. I spent one year as a special education teacher at Hutchison Farm Elementary in Chantilly and two years teaching third grade there. I have taught third grade at Cool Spring for the past four years. This will be my seventh year teaching third grade and I LOVE it! I was honored to be recognized as the winner of 2018 Best of Loudoun Teacher as well as one of the Loudoun 100 honorees for my work as a teacher and foster parent in 2017.
I grew up in Kentucky and have had the opportunity to live and teach across the country as the spouse of an Air Force Officer. We now live in Leesburg with our three dogs, a bearded dragon, a gold fish, a bunny, and our four children. We have four children-Lillian (19), Breauna (20), Eliza (15) and Samuel (13). Lillian attends Emerson College in Boston, Breauna attends NOVA, Eliza is a sophomore at Tuscarora High School, and Sam attends Harper Park Middle School. We are also Loudoun County foster parents, so we welcome other children into our home throughout the year. My Teaching Philosophy...
Teaching is my passion and I am truly honored to be your child's teacher! My goal for this school year is to create a warm, welcoming learning environment that nurtures my students' inquisitive natures. I believe that all children can learn, but they will not all learn in the same way on the same day. I work hard to differentiate lessons and tailor them to fit each student's needs. My classroom utilizes a personalized learning approach. I foster a collaborative environment that utilizes flexible seating and collaboration among peers. I use project based learning and performance based assessments to help students truly experience deeper learning. We have a weekly Genius Hour in our class where the students get to choose a topic, research it, and prepare a presentation for others. I strive to help each child meet their fullest potential while loving the process of learning and making meaningful contributions to the world! Mrs. Noyd's Nest fosters kindness and a sense of community and belonging. I facilitate monthly service projects for our class because I want them to know what it's like to make a difference in the lives of others. In the past, we have filled backpacks for foster kids, collected socks for Socktober, collected canned goods for Loudoun Hunger Relief, collected pajamas for Pajamagram, and sent Valentines to local troops. If you would like to get involved with any projects or have ideas for how we can make meaningful contributions to our local community, please let me know! I am always looking for new ideas.
Lastly, I do not take my job lightly- I understand that you send me your most precious asset each day! Together we will work as a team to help your child's 3rd grade year be a success!
