I begin my 5th here at Seneca Ridge MS with great enthusiasm and excitement. With over 28 years experience teaching in public schools and three years as a school district Energy Manager, I've taught each of the core subjects students take in middle school ; however, over the past 15 years, my focus has been devoted to Science.
I was raised in upstate NY and graduated in 1986 from SUNY at Cortland, where I earned a teaching certificate in Elem. Educ. with a concentration in middle school mathematics. I've taught in Arizona ( the Grand Canyon ), southern MD, Loudoun Co. and Frederick Co. VA. My particular areas of interest have always been math and science, so I've taken many graduate courses geared toward integrating the two subjects as well as identifying gifted students and differentiating instruction to all learning styles and levels. Over the past two years, I and many of my colleagues have embraced PL / PBL / PBA and will continue to evolve effective, dynamic and synchronized labs and lessons.
I live in Clarke County, where I breathe fresh country air and enjoy everything that nature has to offer. My twin boys are heading off for their freshman year at CNU & VA Tech. I fill my time with numerous outings into the woods to bike, hike and simply enjoy the experience.
I am thrilled to be returning here to Seneca Ridge MS and look forward to working with students as an active member in the school community.
