This opportunity was open to any rising sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled in a guitar class throughout all of Virginia.  Only the top 42 students from across the state were accepted with LCPS students receiving 36 of the 42 slots.  Just pointing out that TEN PFHS guitarists were selected!!  The ensemble will be performing at this November's Virginia Music Educators Association convention at the Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.  They will be conducted by Mr. Glen McCarty, noted guitar educator and conductor!
This is a great testament to the quality of music education afforded to our LCPS students and teachers, administrators, and especially parents should be very proud of the example LCPS is setting for guitar education not only in Virginia but across the country.
PFHS Guitar Quartet performance at the Kennedy Center!!!
Hard work and dedication pays off!!  We got to see what all the blood sweat and tears is for when the PFHS Guitar Quartet was invited to perform on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center on May 2nd, 2013.  This performance was sponsored by the Kennedy Center's Changing Education Through the Arts program.  Only four public school music ensembles are invited to perform for this event each year from throughout the DC and Baltimore areas.  Again.......wow!
**Unfortunately, the sound technicians had some trouble with the sound during the first music selection - be ready to adjust your speakers volume!!!**
