Degrees and Certifications:
I am delighted to be entering my thirty-sixth year as an educator, and seventh year as Assistant Principal at Dominion Trail Elementary School. I truly enjoy being a part of the Dominion Trail family. Having the opportunity to watch the students grow and learn is an awesome gift.
Prior to joining the Husky family, I have had an extensive career in education across various levels. I started my career as a first-grade teacher in Portsmouth, Virginia where I fell in love with teaching reading. I applied to graduate school at Old Dominion University after three years of teaching to further my studies. While attending grad school I left Portsmouth Public Schools to teach in a Title I school in Norfolk, VA. The schools were struggling with implementing early literacy skills across the division and that was my area of interest. While in Norfolk, I taught various grades 1-5, taught Reading Recovery, and served as a Reading Specialist. As I transitioned into the role of Reading Specialist, I was offered many leadership opportunities, which started my journey as a school administrator. I served as an Assistant Principal in Virginia Beach Public Schools for five years before moving to Loudoun.
Outside of work, my favorite pass time is sports. Although I don't currently play any sports I enjoy watching them. Baseball is my number one sport. I grew up watching the NY Yankees and the NY Mets. The Yankees are still my favorite team and often see them play live during the summer. I also like football and my team is non other that the NY Giants. I don't have a favorite basketball or hockey team. I just enjoy watching which ever team is playing.
