• Coach Allison Smith
    Varsity Head Coach
    Coach Smith has been involved with volleyball for 13 years as both a player and coach, with 8 years of coaching experience at the high school level. She played Varsity Volleyball and for various esteemed clubs in the Atlanta, Georgia area during all four years of high school. In 2004, her club team, Atlanta Juniors, went to Nationals in Houston, TX. Coach Smith earned an athletic scholarship to play volleyball for Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina.
    Coach Smith began coaching while in college with Gaston Volleyball club in Gastonia, North Carolina. In 2008, she was the assistant varsity coach for North Gaston High School where the team won the conference for the first time in 28 years. After Graduating from college, Coach Smith moved back to Northern Virginia where she has been active in several high school programs. She is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and USA Volleyball (USAV). Coach Smith has attended Gold Medal Squared, attained her USAV CAP I Certification, and is currently working on attaining her Masters in Coaching Education.

    Coach Nicole Barnes

    Assistant Varsity Coach
    Coach Barnes was an avid athlete throughout high school in Wisconsin.  Coach Barnes graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Civil Engineering. While attending Uniersity if Wisconsin, she was member of their Club Volleyball team as a Middle Hitter.  In addition to sports, She played tuba in the marching band and was a co-president of the Concrete Canoe Team.  Coach Barnes was drawn to coaching while assisting a local high school girls team back in Wisconsin.  Given this experience, Coach Barnes wished to continue coaching after college and became involved with Heritage High School after her relocation to Leesburg.  Coach Barnes served as the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach during the past season, and is looking forward to assisting Varsity Volleyball in the upcoming season. 
    Coach Dave McCandless
    J.V. Head Coach

    CoachMcCandless has been involved in volleyball for over 14 years.  He has been the administrator for LoudounYouth Volleyball (LYV) since it's beginning - guiding the rec-league as it grewfrom 7 teams in 1999 to over 120 teams this year.  While Coach McCandless has won numerouschampionships coaching in LYV - he is most proud of the number of athletes hehas trained.  Volleyball is truly alifelong sport and learning the basics is just as important as winning a title.  Coach McCandless also coached club volleyballwith NVVA for 12 years.  His NVVA boysteams qualified for Nationals 4 times with two Top 20 finishes.  He also served as the Director of the BoysDivision for 5 years.  This will be CoachMcCandless's  4th year coaching atHeritage HS. 

    Coach Josh Judd
    Freshman Head Coach
    Coach Judd graduated from Radford University in 2012 and has an extensive volleyball background.  He has been around volleyball since he was a young boy attending his parents matches.  He was the first male middle school volleyball player at Harper Park Middle School and played for Northern Virginia Volleyball Association (NVVA) every year until his senior year.  Coach Judd coached club volleyball last fall and recently completed a season with NVVA 13/14 Club team.  Coach Judd is looking forward to helping create an positive environment and generating a solid skill base among the Freshman team.  He is looking forward to a fun and great season.
