• Welcome to Mrs. Jacques’ Class!

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’m thrilled to be working with your child. Fourth  grade is such an exciting time. This is a year your child will learn all about Virginia in social science.  In math, we will cover a variety of topics such as long division, fractions, and measurement.  They will go to PE, music, art and library. Once a week, I will teach them a lesson in the computer lab. I hope to make your child's learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child's years of schooling.

I am one of the charter staff members at Sycolin Creek.  This will be my 13th year teaching fourth grade.  Before teaching at Sycolin Creek Elementary, I taught third grade at Dominion Trail Elementary in Ashburn for three years.  Prior to teaching for Loudoun County Public Schools, I worked for Prince William County Public Schools and the Fairfax Government Center.  I have worked with a range of children from infants to fifth grade.

This year, we’ll have our Back-to-School Night for grades 4-5 on Tuesday, August 20 beginning at 7:00 p.m.  This will be an opportunity for families to visit the classroom and to learn about what will be happening in fourth grade. The Open House will be on Wednesday, August 21 from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  Your child may bring in his or her school supplies when you stop by to visit the classroom.  In addition to the listed items on the school supply list for fourth grade, your child will need a 5-pocket expanding accordion folder.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. My e-mail address is Shawnda.Jacques@lcps.org. The school number is 571-252-2910. I look forward to getting to know your child.

    Shawnda Jacques
