    Scholastic Share What You're Reading
     
    Kids can visit this site to read book reviews by other kids their age.  If you like, encourage your student to write a review of what they're reading and submit it to the site.  This is a fun way for them to think about what they're reading and share their thoughts with others.
     
    Scholastic Family Playground (Recommended for Ages 3-7)
     
    Here you will find fun games and activities featuring some favorite picture book characters.
     
    Scholastic Stacks (Recommended for ages 8 and up)
     
    This website is a great jumping off point for summer reading suggestions.  Try the Books and AUthors tab for book recommendations.  Try the Videos tab for book reviews, author interviews, and much more.
     
    Storyline Online
     
    This program from the Screen Actors Guild Foundation provides a video collection of digital storybooks read by famous actors.
     
    PBS Parents Reading and Language
     
    This site is for parents and features suggested reading lists, language and literacy games and activities, and a helpful book finder.
     
    ReadWriteThink Character Trading Cards
     
    Wish your child would think about what they are reading and interact with it more?  Try this interactive activity.  Students answer creatively to describe a character from a book, creating a trading card of that character.  You can print it out and at the end of the summer, your student can look at them all and reflect and remember what they have read.
     
    Book Hive
     
    A presentation of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, this site offers a searchable book review database, as well as thematic lists of suggested titles.  Additionally, try the Fun Activities section for a database of book discussion questions.
