At the December 13, 2016 School Board meeting, the School Board voted to adopt PLAN 8.

Secondary School Attendance Zones

On August 9, 2016, the Loudoun County School Board approved a calendar for the establishment of an attendance zone for an unnamed middle school (MS-7) to be located at 40929 Braddock Road, Aldie. The middle school will open in fall, 2018 – with the start of the 2018-19 school year.

In establishing an attendance zone for the new school, the current attendance areas for Eagle Ridge Middle School, J. Michael Lunsford Middle School, Mercer Middle School and Stone Hill Middle School will be reviewed. A review of current attendance boundaries for Briar Woods High School, Freedom High School, John Champe High School and Rock Ridge High School will also be part of this attendance zone process.

With approval of the calendar, the School Board asked that the following elementary and secondary school communities be notified of the meeting dates for the secondary school attendance zone change process:

  • Briar Woods High School, Eagle Ridge Middle School, Hillside Elementary School, Mill Run Elementary School, Moorefield Station Elementary School;
  • Freedom High School, J. Michael Lunsford Middle School, Cardinal Ridge Elementary School, Hutchison Farm Elementary School, Liberty Elementary School, Little River Elementary School;
  • John Champe High School, Mercer Middle School, Aldie Elementary School, Arcola Elementary School, Buffalo Trail Elementary School, Pinebrook Elementary School; and,
  • Rock Ridge High School, Stone Hill Middle School, Creighton’s Corner Elementary School, Legacy Elementary School, Madison’s Trust Elementary School, Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School.

Notification of a specific middle or high school community does not indicate that the school’s attendance zone will change but that secondary school attendance zone adjustments may be reviewed, proposed, and/or adopted.

The School Board is scheduled to adopt school attendance zone changes, including the establishment of an attendance zone for MS-7, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016It is possible that secondary school attendance zone changes, adopted by the School Board, may take effect prior to the fall, 2018 opening of MS-7.
