Mrs. Megan Keller is a licensed speech-language pathologist with her Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She has a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from James Madison University and Bachelors' degrees in both Communication Disorders and Psychology from the University of Virginia (GO 'HOOS!).
Mrs. Keller has post-graduate training in Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking programs, Nancy Kaufman's Speech to Language Protocol for Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Edi Strand's Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing for Childhood Apraxia of Speech,TalkTools, Stanley Greenspan's DIR/Floortime Approach, Lindamood-Bell's Visualizing and Verbalizing, the PESL Method for Accent Reduction and Pronunciation, and Autumn Henning's Tethered Oral Tissues Speciality Training. She is on track to become a Qualified Orofacial Myologist and has attended a 28-hour course regarding treatment of oral and facial muscles as they relate to speech, dentition, chewing/bolus collection, swallowing, and overall mental and physical health.
Mrs. Keller has particular interests in akyloglossia (tongue-tie) and in the airway health of children (the impacts of nasal breathing and sleep disordered breathing on physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual well-being).
In her free time, Mrs. Keller likes to hang out with her three-year-old, Charlotte, her husband, Jon, and their dog, Griffey. She enjoys spending time outside, going to baseball games, traveling to the beach, fishing in Minnesota, watching crime shows, reading suspense novels, and eating Nutella from the jar.
The 2019-2020 school year will be her TENTH year at Algonkian. Go Bobcats!
