I am very happy to be at Algonkian Elementary again this year. I look forward to working with all the students and staff. This is my seventh year at Algonkian. I have been known as the Technology Resource Teacher, but last year I had a title change. I am now the Instructional Facilitator of Technology, or IFT. I have been in this field for eleven years previously at Meadowland Elementary and Cedar Lane Elementary. I previously taught elementary school Kindergarten, first, and third grades in Fairfax County. I have my Masters in Curriculum Development in Educational Technology from George Mason University. I have lived in Ashburn, Virginia for seventeen years with my husband and two sons.I look forward to helping students and staff integrate available technology into their Personalized Learning this year. This summer Algonkian Elementary was part of the LCPS technology refresh and the roll-out of 1 to 1 devices for grades 3-5. Please see the Personalized Learning handbook and FAQ tabs on the webpage for more details. Teachers and students will get hands-on training and experience using these new devices to help better integrate technology into all parts of their learning and assist in student personalized learning, assessments and achievements.
Students in kindergarten, first and second grades also recieved new digital devices. They will work with 5 Chromebooks and 5 iPads in their classrooms, plus with previously purchased PTA funds we will supplement the LCPS issued devices with more Chromebooks and iPads in each room.
We recycle! Please send in your used ink cartridges and toner cartridges for recycling. Just drop them off in the Computer Lab. The proceeds will be used to purchase additional technology equipment.
