I'm excited that another school year has started, which means lots of reading and writing for students and myself. This is my first year at Harper Park, and it's a great place to be. Before coming to the Park, I taught seventh and eighth grade English at another middle school in the Leesburg community for 12 years.

Before becoming a teacher, I had my own writing and editing business called Editorial Options. Prior to venturing out on my own, I was the editorial director at the Society for Human Resource Management in Alexandria, Va.  In that position, I oversaw the production of the association’s magazine, newspaper and publications website.

I graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonsburg, Va., with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Journalism. I received a Publications Specialist Certificate from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. , and my education in teaching from Shenandoah University based in Winchester, Va.

The best way to reach me is via email, which is: michelle.martinez@lcps.org.

I look forward to teaching your child, and more importantly, getting to know your son or daughter.
