Rock Ridge High School
PEER (Positive, Experiences, in Educational Relationships) is a specialized class at Rock Ridge High School that is designed for student leaders (“PEER Helpers”) to help them develop mentoring skills and teach them how to assist their peers emotionally, socially, and academically.
PEER Helpers are trained and supervised to provide outreach services to students who need assistance with individual or school problems. Through school-wide campaigns, PEER aims to bring awareness to certain issues involved in mental health or focus on the inclusivity of students and staff in the everyday academic environment. Examples of such campaigns include:
-
National Bullying Prevention Month,
-
National Suicide Prevention Month,
-
World Kindness Day, and
-
Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
