Welcome to Second Grade! My name is Mrs. Haakonson and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year. This will be my 21st year in education! I have had the pleasure of teaching first grade, second grade, as well as supporting teachers and students as a reading specialist. 

I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Radford University (Go Highlanders!) and my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in reading from George Mason University. 

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter Clarke, and my black lab named Dixie. I love being on the water and relaxing at my family's lake house on Lake Gaston, in North Carolina.
