    Riverside Rams! Amy Buckley
Happy new school year! I I have been teaching in Loudoun County for 22 years, and I am thrilled to begin the 2019-2020 school year here at Riverside High School and join the larger Ram community that surrounds such
    an excellent school.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher of Secondary English (EAYA-ELA) with a Masters in Secondary Education, English, from The George Washington University, a Graduate Extension of Literature from Harvard University,
and a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English & Theology from Ambassador University, Texas.
I have been highly involved in the A.P. English College Board world to improve my teaching efficacy for students seeking to earn college credit with their Exam score. Aside from teaching AP English for over 15 years, I have been an AP English Literature Exam Reader for six years; I am certified to grade AP Seminar Performance Assessments #1 and #2; I presented a conference session on teaching AP English students Literary Theory at
the 2015 AP Annual Conference in Austin, TX; and, I presented a conference session on using current Poet Laureates to improve poetic literacy at the 2017 AP Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. I believe that the rigor and level of skills required to learn from both years of AP English equip students with the tools to be successful critical thinkers, critical readers, and problem solvers.
I love teaching students new skills and content and seeing their growth. I work hard to create a classroom environment to celebrate student learning and offer instructional opportunities that offer voice and choice to foster deeper learning experiences where students make more meaningful connections outside of themselves.
My motto is: "communication solves all problems." So, please contact me as needed.
