Ms. Phoenix

Ms. Phoenix is excited to be a part of the Emerick Elementary family. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in English from Illinois State University. Upon moving to Tucson from northern Wisconsin in 2001, she decided to return to school to become certified in Elementary Education. She taught for 13 years in Tucson Unified School District, teaching third grade for 12 years and a multi-grade EL class for one year. She taught third grade at Leman Academy of Excellence for the 2017-18 school year. Ms. Svob moved to Virginia in June of 2018 to be closer to family. When not teaching, Ms. Svob loves to read, knit, paint, travel, and spend as much time as possible with friends and family. She is an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She has a son who lives with his family in the UP of Michigan and a daughter living with her family in Virginia. One grandson is a senior at Grand Valley University in Michigan this year, studying Computer Science. Her grandson in Virginia is a sophomore at Loudoun County High. Of course, she brags about the brilliance and talents of her grandsons – one is an excellent drummer who plays in a band. The grandson in Virginia is an amazing pitcher and hitter for a club/travel baseball team and his high school team. For Ms. Svob, teaching is a passion. Helping a child develop confidence in their abilities and a curiosity about the world around them is an honor. She is looking forward to the challenges and joys the school year at Emerick Elementary will bring.
