Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Rebecca Plenter
I am thrilled to be entering my second year at Trailside Middle School as an Instructional Specialist for seventh grade Language Arts. Previously, I was a fifth grade Special Education Teacher and now enjoy being part of the middle school environment!
I grew up on the Connecticut shoreline in the picturesque town of Essex. I received my Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Economics and Finance from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts and participated in extensive studies in Classical Piano at the New England Conservatory of Music. After graduating from Simmons College, I spent eighteen years at Delta Air Lines as a Head Purser Flight Attendant for overseas flights out of New York City, which gave me the wonderful opportunity to travel and see the world.
My husband, son, and I moved to Leesburg, Virginia in 2004. At that time, I decided to pursue my interest in cooking and worked in management at l’Academie de Cuisine Culinary School in Bethesda, Maryland for several years. I, subsequently, received my professional certificates in French Culinary Arts from them, and to this day enjoy spending time in the kitchen.
My true passion and dream have always been to teach, so I pursued a Master of Education in Special Education at George Mason University. It has been the most rewarding position of my life to work with students in the Loudoun County Public School System. I am certified in numerous literacy and reading intervention programs and am excited to utilize these tools in the classroom.
In my free time, I enjoy watching New England sports with my family and reading the "Great Books"!
I look forward to a wonderful 2019-2020 year together!
