Mrs. Wendy Dalton

Welcome to Kindergarten! Your energetic teacher is Wendy Dalton and she has worked in the education field since 2002.  With over 20 years of teaching experience, she has taught grades K-3 and the following specialized classes: Severely Developmentally Delayed Kindergarten and Second Grade Success Classes.  Mrs. Dalton has been with HCA since its inception.  She currently lives in Lovettsville. Mrs. Dalton has two daughters - one that lives in Germany working as a professional dancer and the other is a spunky nine-year old who will be in Fourth Grade at HCA.  HCA has allowed her the opportunity to use her vast experience in 21st century skills, Inquiry Lessons, PBL, STEM and STEAM to collaborate within a charter school framework while creating authentic learning experiences.  She has worked as a Kindergarten teacher for fifteen years of her career and she has a reputation of being a highly effective literacy coach. Mrs. Dalton has worked with the State of Florida DOE to review curriculum as part of a research team and she previously assisted in writing curriculum/lessons for two previous school districts in both Georgia and Florida. She was awarded Teacher of the Year while teaching a K/1 looping class in Florida and then as a 2nd grade teacher in Texas.  In 2022, Mrs. Dalton was one nominated for the Washington Post's Teacher of the Year. One of her favorite quotes is "The greatest gifts you can give children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence."  Mrs. Dalton wants her Kindergarten students to live the mantra that "little people can do big things!"  Mrs. Dalton has previously been the HCA Running Team Coach and Organizer, Daisy Troop Sponsor(2020-2023), Chess Club Advisor (2023) and Co-Creator of the Service Scholars Club in 2021-2022.  In 2020 she coached a group of K-2 elementary scholars to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind as one of their coaches! Mrs. Dalton is currently the School Culture Lead and Superintendents Advisory School Lead for Hillsboro Charter Academy.
