Megan Tucker relocated to Loudoun County after teaching in STEAM/STEM in Florida and California, and is excited to raise her daughter closer to family! Mrs. Tucker followed the story of Hillsboro Charter Academy when she was looking to make the move to Loudoun, and was inspired by the tenacity of the HCA Board of Directors, teachers and families who had the vision for pursuing a charter rooted in STEAM and PBL. Megan comes with 17 years of teaching experience and holds a M.S. in Science Education K-8, as well as her B.S. in Elementary Education and an A.S. in Animal Management. She has been instrumental in spreading the power of STEAM as a teacher, curriculum writer, and grant writer in Florida, California, and now Virginia; as well as doing numerous professional development workshops related to STEAM and Aerospace. Career highlights include recently being named the 2021 National Air Force Association/Rolls Royce STEM/Aerospace Teacher of the Year as well as having been awarded the American Association for Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation Education Achievement Award, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching and being selected to fly with NASA's SOFIA Program as well as being selected as the Civil Air Patrol National Teacher of the Year. As a National Board Certified Teacher, Megan instills in her students the motto "Your attitude is your altitude!" and ALWAYS strives to PROMOTE A PASSIONATE PERSEVERANCE!
