Welcome new and returning, Timberwolves and families! I am looking forward to my fourth year as Trailside's Instructional Facilitator of Technology (aka "IFT"). I am especially excited about supporting the learning experiences for students and staff in ways that they can use their devices for creating content and fostering their skills as digital innovators as well as digital citizens.
The 2019-20 school year begins my sixteenth year in education. After graduating from West Virginia University with my Bachelors Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education (Pre-K through 6th), I began my teaching career in Fairfax County Public Schools as a 5th grade teacher. As a classroom teacher, I discovered my passion for effective instructional technology integration and how engaged my students became as a result; this led me to pursue an Integration of Technology in Schools Masters program at George Mason University. Upon completing this degree, I became a School-Based Technology Specialist at a K-6 elementary school in Fairfax County. I feel fortunate to have worked with and learned alongside some outstanding educators and students - it is this collaboration where everyone brings a unique strength that energizes me as a teacher.
Originally from the Syracuse, NY area - no stranger to snow and lots of it, I am proud to call Northern Virginia my home since 2004. I have a young daughter and son, along with a fourteen year old labradoodle; our house is always buzzing with energy. When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, listening to live music, beach and lake vacations, and any form of exercise. I've run two marathons, several half marathons and races of other distances, and in recent years have discovered a love of indoor cycling. I earned my Schwinn indoor cycling instructor certification, but for now, I'm enjoying being the student on the bike.
