BWHS Scheduling Program for 2019-2020
Below is a detailed timeline for the BWHS scheduling program – dates are subject to change due to inclement weather.
Note: Updated dates are in red font.
January 16: Scheduling Information Night for Parents
- 6:00pm for BWHS parents; 6:45pm for parents of 8th grade students
Counselors will provide information regarding graduation requirements, courses for next year, and the course selection process. Department chairs and teachers will be available to answer questions about specific courses. NOVA DE, and Virtual Loudoun representatives will also be present. See separate flyer for event details.
Week of January 21: Classroom Scheduling Information Sessions
Teachers will discuss their department’s course options for next year with students in their current classes.
Week of January 21: Scheduling Video Presentations for Current Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors
Students will view counselor-produced videos that will review graduation requirements, courses for next year, and the course selection process.
Ongoing through January 22: Teachers’ Course Recommendations
English, math, science, social science, and world language teachers will submit course recommendations for their students to the Counseling Department through Phoenix Grade Book.
February 4 & 5: Middle School Scheduling Presentations at Eagle Ridge
January 23: Students and parents may view teacher recommendations on StudentVUE and ParentVUE
January 23 – February 22: Students may select electives on StudentVUE and ParentVUE
February 7 –March 1: Individual Student/Counselor Scheduling Conferences
Counselors will facilitate individual conferences with students to select their courses. Students will review their core teachers’ recommendations and make changes as necessary. Students will receive a copy of their requests for their parents’ review. Students/parents will be able to change electives directly through Phoenix StudentVUE and/or ParentVUE. Core courses must be changed by contacting the assigned counselor.
March 8: Application deadline for sophomores and juniors interested in the Monroe Advanced Technical Academy (MATA).
March 8: Application deadline for sophomores interested Advanced Academy of Engineering & Technology (AET).
May 7 – May 25: There will be a hold on changing student course requests during AP testing.
May 24: A final copy of the Course Selection Form will be sent home for parent review and approval. Parents may change course requests until June 3, 2019.
June 3, 2019: Deadline to change student course requests for 2018-2019. There will be no changes to course requests after this date until “level-change days” in August. (Exception: Student courses may be changed upon the completion of summer school classes).
August, dates TBD: Level-Change Days. Student may request to change a core academic course level (academic, honors, AP, dual enrollment) on these dates prior to the start of school. Elective requests cannot be changed.
