  • In August 2018, David Mack, the director of ManTech’s Advanced Forensics Team, approached the Academies of Loudoun. He had struggled to find technology-savvy individuals who possessed a Green Badge, the highest government security clearance. Mack wanted to find young talent to bring fresh ideas to the forefront of his organization while still in high school and create a continuous pipeline for knowledge transfer from the ManTech staff to a new generation of forensic experts.

    The Advanced Forensics Division of ManTech created the DFEND Internship Program specifically for Academies of Loudoun students. It provided students with real-world experience in the form of paid summer internships and sponsorship for the Green Badge. The company invested more than $200,000 in a program.
