LCPS Annual Staff, Student, and Family Survey Open March 13 - April 1, 2023

The LCPS Annual Staff, Student, and Family Survey is the most extensive and influential feedback survey conducted by Loudoun County Public Schools each year. Question topics address all areas of school climate, including academic support for students, family communication, and learning environment.  You will receive a dedicated link to take the survey from Dr. Daniel Smith on March 13. Please check your spam or junk mail and contact research@lcps.org if you do not receive it by March 14.

Please take this opportunity to make your voice heard by April 1. School administrators depend on the results as they develop goals for their school improvement plan. The data is also used at the division-level to track overall trends and monitor outcomes prioritized in the One LCPS: 2027 Strategic Plan for Excellence. Representation from all perspectives is crucial to inform the decisions being made across the school division.

Students in grades 3-5 and 9-12 will receive the survey in school, at a time selected by the school principal. Middle school students do not need to take the survey because they took the Virginia School Climate Survey earlier this year.

Q & A

What are the topics covered in the survey?

Questions addressed to each participant group solicit feedback about their school in the areas of communication, academic support, family engagement, and the learning environment. Questions on the student survey can be viewed on the website. https://www.lcps.org/2023survey

Are the results published?

The results will be published on the LCPS Stakeholder Survey webpage in July.

Who is eligible to participate?

Parents/guardians – Email messages with the link to the survey are sent to the first two parent/guardian contacts identified for students in each school. Family members are asked to submit one response per school in which they have a child enrolled.

Staff – Email messages with the link to the survey are sent to all school-based staff, including teachers and non-instructional staff.

Students – Students in grades 3-5 and 9-12 will receive a link to the survey in their school at a time planned by the school principal. Middle school students are exempt from the LCPS survey in 2023 because they took the Virginia School Climate Survey in January/February. Parents/guardians can view the student survey here:  https://www.lcps.org/2023survey

Is the survey anonymous and confidential?

Yes. The LCPS Division of Research, Accountability, and School Improvement is responsible for maintaining the anonymity and confidentiality of all responses. The results are reported in summary form and not by individual respondents. The staff takes measures to protect access to the data file so that answers cannot be identified for individuals.

The only responses that can be associated with a specific person are written answers to comment questions in which the respondent self-identifies by name.
