Welcome to Mrs. Dailey's Home Page!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to kindergarten in room 5!  I'm Kathy Dailey and I've been teaching young children for 19 years.  I'm excited to start my ninth year here in kindergarten at Hillside.
I live in Ashburn with my husband Dave and my daughter Megan, who is asenior at Stone Bridge.  Go Bulldogs!  My daughter Kaitlyn is a junior at Virginia Tech!  Go Hokies!  Your kids will hear many stories about them as well as our little dog, Bella.

I love teaching kindergartners because they are so open to new ideas and are naturally excited to learn. I believe that all children have their own gifts that they will discover and we will nurture.  Kindergarten is a time to learn to work together and to be a kind and respectful teammate.  We all have our strengths and weaknesses and we will discover how to help each other learn and grow.   This is the beginning of a long journey in their education, so I will work hard to ensure that they have a strong foundation of skills, both academic and personal.   We will be partners in  making that journey a success.  If they leave kindergarten with a positive attitude toward school, self-confidence, strong basic skills and respect for themselves & others,  then I will know I have done my job.

You are a vital part of our kindergarten team.  Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have a question or a concern.  We hope you are able to come and spend some time in our classroom to see the wonderful things that your children are doing.  I appreciate all of the support that you give us.

I am so lucky to have Mrs. Patty Byars as my assistant.  She worked at Hope Preschool for eleven years before coming here to Hillside.  This will be her sixth year at Hillside and she has found her home here with the kindergartners.  She loves their sweetness and sense of humor!  Mrs. Byars lives in Sterling and her daughter Leah is attending dental school in New York.  Mrs. Byars enjoys gardening, reading and baking.  I  am thrilled to work with her!

We are looking forward to an amazing year with your "little monkeys"!

Sincerely,
Kathy Dailey
