Wednesday Announcements 4/23/14

Two Sundays ago the chorus returned from their last competition down in Tennessee. The mixed chorus received 1st place with a superior rating, the treble chorus received second place with a superior rating and we won Choral Grand Champions over all 20 choruses that competed that weekend. Please congratulate them on a successful spring trip.

SENIORS please log in to VISION and start voting for your 2014 Prom Court.  Voting opens today and will run until Thursday April 24th.  PLEASE take the time to cast your vote for your Senior Prom Court!! 

Seniors:  We are filling up for the graduation trip to Dave & Busters!  You can still go and pay only $55 this week.  Then, price goes to $75.  Pay pal on line and forms on bulletin board outside cafeteria.  See Ms. Ciullo for questions.

Attention, Girls!  If you still don’t have your prom dress, Irene’s Prom Closet is open every morning before school for you to get a beautiful prom gown at no cost to you. We now have purses, shoes and brand new BLING!  Irene’s Prom Closet will be giving away FREE make up sessions and 2 FREE digital professional photo sessions among the girls that participate. Remember that your information remains confidential.  It is located at the girls’ dressing room 803.   You may contact Mrs. Vallarino in Room L511 or email irenespromcloset@gmail.com if you need an afternoon appointment.

If you have any announcements you would like for SCA to make during the Mr. BWHS pageant, please let me know as soon as possible. Also, Brambleton would love to hear what is going on here at BWHS.  If you have something to put on their closed circuit channel, please let me know.

If you are interested in running for student council for the 2014-15 school year, applications are available in the main office and online.  The application is due on Monday, April 28.  You will not be able to run if you turn in your application late.  Please see Mrs. Noselli if you have any questions or would like more information.
Who will be Mr. Briar Woods 2014?  Find out on April 28!  Tickets will be sold at the door and are $10.  You may vote for your favorite during lunches starting Wednesday, April 23 and at the pageant.  Votes are $1 each.  Don’t miss the pageant!  Vote for your favorite candidate!

As a reminder, of the ITS paperwork is due this Friday.  The Audition packets are due to the Black Box this Friday as well, in order for you to audition for Cabaret Night.

International Nite will be held Saturday, May 3, at 7:00 p.m. The evening will include music and dance performances in the auditorium as well as food and cultural items in the cafeteria during intermission.  Please come out and support your fellow falcons! Ticket will be sold next week during lunch shifts and at the door. Tickets cost $5.00.  A portion of the proceeds will go to the International Red Cross. 

Student literacy council is getting ready to wrap up the Briar Woods Book Drive, so this is the last chance to donate your used books! Remember, all books go to Books for America, a non-profit organization. Thanks for all of your participation, way to show go Falcons!  As always, do a good deed and donate what you read! 

The Falcon FTC Robotics Teams will be having an Open House this Thursday, April 24th, in Mr. Scudder’s room L604 right after school.  Come down to see what the First Robotics Competition is all about.   
Please join us tonight at Chipotle for the Girls Lacrosse fundraiser from 5 - 8 p.m. at Chipotle.   Mention our program and 50% of the sales go right to the team.  Thank you!!

Congratulations to the Boys' Tennis Team for its sixth consecutive victory, a 9-0 win over Potomac Falls yesterday. Winners in singles were Kyle Mateyov, Sai Konuri, Rupin Bhalla, Michael Hwang, Vineeth Gaddam, and Samuel Ng. In doubles, Sai and Vinnie won at #1, Randall and Bobby won at #2, and Sonu and Bradley Ace won at #3. The tennis team has not lost to another Loudoun County team in two years. Way to go, guys!   

Congratulations to the JV softball team for its 10-5 win over Stone Bridge last night. Hannah Ondrus went 3-for-3, while Michelle Sullivan drove in two runs. Kayleigh Sinski added two hits and one R-B-I. The JV team is now 4-1 and hosts Woodgrove tonight for a doubleheader starting at 5 pm.

The varsity softball team defeated Stone Bridge 9-7 last night. Carrie Keevey had three hits and three runs batted in and Kacie Kondrotis hit her first career home run. Casey Forbes added two hits and two runs batted in. The Falcons are now 7-3 overall and travel to Woodgrove tonight for a doubleheader beginning at 5 pm.
