  • Open gym for volleyball is cancelled for today due to the potential weather forcing spring teams inside for practice Falcons Serve is in action again! We will be headed to DC’s Franklin Park Saturday, May 21, in full force and with our alums. It would be fabulous to have more current Briar Woods students than alumni this time! Stay tuned for organizational meeting plans.
  • The Talon’s third Open Mike Night is Friday, May 13, at 7:00 in the BWHS Library. Bring your talent to share and your appetite: free baked goods!!!
  • Last Friday the Varsity Baseball defeated Tuscarora 10-0 to move to 13-2 on the season. The Falcons were led offensively by Jake Kliefges who had 3 RBI’s and 2 doubles. Michael Ludowig also went 3-4 for a RBI. Caleb Barnes got the win on the mound throwing the complete game shutout. Barnes is now 4-0 and picked up his 10th Career win which is the most by any pitcher in Briar Woods history. The Falcons are back in action tomorrow night at home vs Marshall High School.
  • The Briar Woods Crew competed this past weekend in the Al Urquia Regatta on the Occoquan against 33 area schools. Every week the boats get faster and the races are closer. Men’s Novice 4 took 3rd place in the field of 12 schools. Another incredible performance from the Women’s Novice 4 which took Gold in open water in once again and is currently undefeated. Next Saturday is the Novice State Championship
  • Congratulations to both Briar Woods Jazz Bands on great performances in the Loudoun County Jazz Ensemble Assessment. Briar Woods Jazz Two performed their best ever and received an overall "excellent" rating and Briar Woods Jazz One received straight "superior" ratings and was named the "Overall Best Jazz Band" in Loudoun County, (for a second straight year).
  • Briar Woods Jazz One was also named won the "Best Brass Section" award and Outstanding solo awards went to trumpet players, Max Kadunce, Robert Barron and James Sutherland and trombone player, Eric Svendsen. Tenor Saxophone, Cameron Greer, was voted by the judges as the "Outstanding Soloist" for the entire event.
