This course in 7th grade US History is the study of people, places, and events that shaped our history from Post Civil War Reconstruction up to the present time. As a class we will explore these events from an economic, geographic, and governmental point of view. We will also explore how these events have shaped our thinking today. This class is a Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) course and the curriculum will be completed by early May to allow time for a review. When we conclude with SOL testing, we will engage in an introduction to 8th grade Civics.
Students will be required to keep a 3 ring binder. The binders serve many functions including a record of notes taken during class, a place to complete activities and a resource to keep track of progress in class. We will review binder set up and introduce a note taking system to help encourage good study habits.
