Welcome to Mrs. Young's Home Page
Welcome to Mrs.Young's Health and Physical Education homepage. I am very excited to begin my 8th year here at Seneca Ridge with so many Amazing students! My name is Lindsey Young (formerly Ms. Stewart) and I am a graduate of George Mason University three times over. My first degree is a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing(2001), second degree is Bachelor's of Science in Education (Health and Physical Education), and I have my Master's in Education (Curriculum Development). I have enjoyed working for a Pediatrician in Vienna for nearly 15 years. I continue to do triage work on weekends and work in the office in the summer and over school vacations.
I use my experience and education as a Registered Nurse to teach my students the importance of staying healthy and being active both in school, at home and in the community. It is our goal as a department to instill the knowledge of what it takes to maintain a physically active lifestyle today and for a lifespan. I attended a Health and Physical Education institute at JMU this summer with other PE colleagues where I was inspired by many new activities that I look forward to bringing into my classroom this year!
My career as a teacher started at Belmont Ridge Middle School in April 2006 and I have found my home here at Seneca Ridge Middle since August of 2006. We are a team here at Seneca and I love to come to work everyday and teach your children! This year I will be teaching 6th and 8th grade only-feel free to contact me by email (listed below).
I have been married for almost 3 years and enjoy many busy days and weekends with our blended family of 4 kids. We have 2 juniors and 2 7th graders, so I am very familiar with the middle school age student. Our children are very active with cross country, marching band, wrestling, golf, tennis, softball, swimming and volleyball.
