What's Available and What's Involved?
Communications Committee
Communication is the critical link between school and families. Being involved with the Communications Committee will help solve the "information gap" by providing weekly information updates to families. As a committee member you'll learn how to effectively use technology (via the "Hornet's Nest" -- Harmony PTA's "Constant Contact" e-newsletter), communicate efficiently with families, and support school and community event news.

Events Committee
Are you a social person who likes to organize celebrations and one or two PTA sponsored events? This is NOT every event that the PTA is involved in. The PTA usually will sponsor one or two events in the school year. In the past, this has included a Halloween Party/Dance, a Spring or Winter Party/Dance, and even a Family Fun Night. Put your skills to use for the benefit of our school! Harmony PTA is looking for parents to help make the school a fun and welcoming place for parents, teachers and students.

Fundraising Committee
Are you looking for an exciting way to help our school?  Are you organized, thorough, and creative?  Do you like working with others? Whether you have experience in fundraising, or just have a desire to make a difference at Harmony Middle School, the PTA needs Fundraising Committee members!  You would be working with individuals to plan and direct the fundraising needed to provide the PTA with funds to support the students and school.  This committee works with fundraising companies that are very familiar with what a school needs to earn money.  The company offers all the informational assistance that the committee needs to be successful.  Parents are very familiar with the fundraisers presented by the school, and the project seems to run by itself.
Membership Committee
Why is parent involvement so important in middle school? Because studies clearly show that parent involvement is good for your child! Membership is the heart of the PTA. Be a part of the Membership Committee you'll help parents answer the question, "What's in it for me?" and "How can I support the school and the students?" You will help the Membership Co-Chairs reach out to parents, and help find ways to ensure involvement can fit into parent's busy schedules.
Volunteer Coordination
The volunteer coordinator manages email communication to announce opportunities to get involved with the school and PTA events or activities. You would work on generating online flyers through applications like Constant Contact, track responses, and report those back to the contact person for the event or activity. This is an excellent job for anyone at home with a computer.
Staff Appreciation Week
Welcome Back Breakfast
The welcome back breakfast is a one day event, which provides a breakfast for the staff on a day after they return from summer break.  The breakfast is normally provided before students return back to school, but after all of the teachers and staff are back.
Rewards Program
This is something anyone can do in their free time at home.  It involves coordination of the Box Tops for Education program, Label’s for Education program and the Coke Rewards program.  There is a collection box (can) outside of the main office, which need to be collected from time to time, and labels/coupons need to be sorted and sent in according to the various program requirements.
