LCPS strives to use up-to-date technology to provide 24/7 student access to learning materials and to make sure those materials are current. Even the best technology will not replace the critical role of the teacher, but in the hands of skillful teachers that technology will enrich our students’ learning. Loudoun’s schools have teamed up with parents and the business community to enrich the opportunities available to Loudoun students. Our students acknowledge that support by taking advantage of opportunities to travel to foreign countries to represent their schools and by competing across the state and nation to demonstrate the skills they are developing. In every corner of our school system you will find indicators of unprecedented success. Graduation rates are higher than ever while dropout rates are lower. Loudoun is a state leader in both these categories. At the same time the incessant growth of our student body has not stopped or even slowed down. Each year we welcome more than 3,000 additional students to our schools. These students require physical facilities, staff, and materials to meet their educational needs. Given our proximity to Washington, D.C., it is likely that this annual growth will continue for many years to come. Careful planning by the School Board, coupled with support from Loudoun’s citizens, enables your school system to continue to meet the needs of its new students while improving the programs available to all students. Loudoun’s students and schools continue to improve, even as we meet the challenges of growth, because our whole community supports its public education system—the system that is the hope of tomorrow for 66,000 students. Public education is the foundation of American democracy and the key to the future of Loudoun County. Last Modified on October 3, 2011
