The AOS is pleased to announce that Marty O’Connell, Executive Director of Colleges That Change Lives, will speak at the Academy of Science on Wednesday October 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the DMH auditorium. Ms. O'OConnell is one of the most respected individuals in the college counseling profession. Her visit to the AOS is important because of the vast expertise she brings to the college planning process. We hope that AOS students and their parents will join us for a current and important perspective on the application process.
Having served in college admissions for twenty-eight years, most recently as vice president for enrollment and dean of admission at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md., Ms. O’Connell has counseled thousands of students about college choice. Today she devotes herself to the Colleges That Change Lives mission: helping students and families better understand the college admissions process to find the best college fit possible. During the past fifteen years college counselors across the country have resonated with the CTCL message that "fit" should trump media rankings: when students focus primarily on finding the best education for their individual learning styles they are apt to achieve their greatest personal, intellectual and professional potential. All AOS students and parents are invited to what will certainly be a great program.
