Welcome to First Grade

I look forward to being another member of your family this year. I am excited about implementing our math investigation curriculum with the students this year, integrating our reading text with social studies and science and new strategies gained from my summer studies. Nurturing the children through inquiry and discovery and developing critical thinking skills is our goal.
About the Teacher
I completed my undergraduate work at Virginia Union University and have completed graduate studies at Trinity University, George Mason University, the University of Virginia, Purdue University, the University of Indiana, Madonna University, Loyola University and Salem College.
I have been teaching for over thirty years. In the state of Virginia, I have taught in the Richmond Public Schools, the King William Public Schools, the Prince William Public Schools, the Loudoun Public Schools, as well as the Indianapolis Public Schools in Lawrence Township. I have taught grades one through eight. I am a Northern Virginia Writing Fellow and enjoy working with young writers.
I love teaching and each year my methodology is enriched by the students that teach me as much I teach them. Education is a family affair. My great-grandmother, grandfather, grandmother, father and my sisters have all taught in Virginia.
My husband and I are Loudoun County residents and we enjoy gardening, reading, traveling and planning family celebrations. We have three children, a son-in-law, one grandson and one granddaughter.
